About the Author – A Newbie to the Kawarthas

Sharing my Kawartha Lakes discoveries
After three decades of living in the GTA suburbs, I packed up and moved to cottage country in 2022—without knowing much about the Kawartha Lakes region beyond what I’d seen on road signs or vacation brochures.
I created CallOfTheKawarthas.ca to document what it’s like to experience this region as a newcomer. Every post on this site is written from the perspective of someone who’s still exploring, still learning, and still falling in love with what makes the Kawarthas so special.
Whether you’re a newcomer yourself, a vacationing visitor, or a long-time local, from time to time you may be looking for a new discovery or something fun or unique to do in the Kawartha Lakes. If so, my aim is to bring you just that.
Embarking on this project isn’t a stretch.
Throughout my professional career I have written articles and content for other tourism organizations. They include the Canada Tourism Commission, Ontario Tourism, Niagara Parks Commission, Simcoe County Tourism, York Region Tourism, Toronto Bicycle Tours and Disney Travel. I look forward to continuing to employ the travel research and writing skills I have honed for clients such as this as I continue to explore and write about the Kawartha Lakes area.
Thanks for joining me on the adventure.
Have a discovery or suggestion for a fun or unique thing to do in Kawartha Lakes? Please let me know and I’ll check it out.
