Entry #3: Moose tracks in Buckhorn
Curiosity had gotten the better of me, leading me to the town of Buckhorn, Ontario. I had heard whispers in the woods about mysterious moose tracks sighted near Mariloo’s Ice Cream and Milkshakes, and my instincts insisted I investigate.
Slipping silently through the underbrush, I emerged near the outskirts of town. Cautiously, I ventured further, careful to stay hidden as I approached Mariloo’s. The sweet scent of the summertime confectionary wafted through the air, mingling with the sound of laughter and conversation from the patio where humans gathered.
There they were, happily chatting and enjoying their ice cream cones, completely oblivious to my presence. I kept my distance, eyes scanning the ground for any sign of moose hoof marks. There were none that I could see.
I kept looking, though growing increasingly impatient, until my ears perked up at the sound of a man’s voice. He stood at the window of the ice cream stand, serving a customer. “Here you go,” he said, “one Moose Tracks ice cream cone.”
The words echoed in my mind, and suddenly, everything clicked. I realized with a jolt that the “Moose Tracks” everyone had been talking about were not the hoof marks of a moose at all. It was an ice cream flavor!
A chuckle escaped me as I turned and headed back towards the woods. The mystery had been solved: the only moose tracks in Buckhorn today were the delectable concoctions enjoyed by the tourists and townsfolk at Mariloo’s. My curiosity satisfied, I slipped back into the forest, eager to share this amusing revelation with my woodland friends.
