Entry #2: A floral escape
The air buzzed with the relentless drone of black flies, their incessant swarming driving me to seek refuge. Amidst the chaos of these tiny tormentors, I stumbled upon the open door of a cottage country floral studio. The sign read, ‘Eufloria, The Buckhorn Florist’.
With a mixture of relief and curiosity, I ventured inside, the studio a welcome reprieve from the relentless onslaught outside.
To my surprise, a woman sat at a table, her hands moving deftly among an array of vibrant blooms until, looking up, her eyes widened in astonishment at the sight of me.
We stood there for a moment, locked in a silent exchange of wonder and curiosity. The woman made no move, her gaze fixed on me as I slowly approached the table.
With cautious steps, I drew nearer, my nostrils filled with the intoxicating scent of the floral arrangement she was creating.
The woman remained still, her expression a mix of awe and uncertainty as I reached out to sniff the floral arrangement before me. The scent was heavenly.
As I lifted my head, our eyes met, and I sensed a silent understanding pass between us. In that fleeting moment, we were simply two creatures, who shared an appreciation for the wonders of nature that surrounded us.
With a nod of gratitude, I turned and left, the memory of that floral sanctuary lingering in my mind.
