The two Kawartha Lakes wineries are destinations where you can’t help but slow down, relax and take in the sights and sounds of nature.

The Rolling Grape Vineyard is situated in the picturesque, rolling countryside of Bailieboro, Ontario.

The vineyard, winery and expansive outdoor patio are nestled in the centre of a farm that has been in winemaker Jonathan Drew’s family for generations.

The rustic, 22-acre surroundings at Kawartha Country Wines is similarly conducive to chilling with friends.

The facilities are anchored by an authentic 1866 pioneer log cabin and 1889 board and batten house which host the tasting room, gift shop and wine making room.

Outside there are picnic tables where you can sip on a glass of wine and enjoy the view of the natural surroundings.

Is there food available at the wineries?

The Rolling Grape Vineyard is as well-known for the food they serve as the wines they make.

The menu is succinct but delicious. Items served include wood-fired pizza, generous charcuterie boards, baked brie and a chicken winter salad.

If you have a sweet tooth, you can dig into one of their dessert jars.

On Sundays they do a brunch that runs till 1:00 PM.

If you would like to include lunch with your visit to Kawartha Country Wines you have three days to choose from.

There’s no daily menu.

Instead they serve wood-fired pizza on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM, from May 24 to Thanksgiving weekend.

The winery at Rolling Grape Vineyard is open Thursday to Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

During the winter, the winery is closed for the months of January and February. However you can still pick up wine by appointment.

Kawartha Country Wines is open all year round, 7 days a week, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
